Annual wellness exams with a veterinarian allow for our skilled staff to review your pet from nose to tail. When exams are performed on an annual basis, this allows for our veterinary team to track trends and changes in your pet's health. Preventative care such as an annual exam is vital for catching disease, osteoarthritis, hearing loss, blindness, and other medical conditions your pet might develop symptoms of.
For senior pets (7+), our veterinarians recommend bi-annual exams and lab work. A lot changes in 6 months in the life of a senior age pet. By reviewing their health twice a year, this allows for our veterinary team to track these changes, monitor their aging process, check for any signs of decline, and provide options for your pet's care in a prompt manner.
When at our office for your pet’s annual exam, we also highly encourage annual lab work. Lab work tells your veterinarian about blood counts, organ functions, disease, parasites, infections, and urinary issues. Even if your pet is young and healthy, we recommend annual lab work because many diseases start slow and show little to no clinical signs. Lab work allows for the opportunity to catch disease and infections early to have a better chance of stopping and/or helping control diseases. We can catch things as simple as intestinal parasites or a UTI when we do yearly lab work as well. When we know what your pet needs, we can better assist you in providing the best daily care for your pet.
